ALL ABOUT US
AcrylicGiftware.Com is part of a larger organization specializing in acrylic fabrication and sales. Originally started in 1990 as an engraving company selling plastic name badges, desk plates and wall directories, we evolved into the sales and engraving of acrylic awards, wall plaques and optical crystal employee and recognition awards. In 2008 our parent company opened a division focused on acrylic products solely (acrylicgiftware.com) and in 2017 this giftware division was created realizing the expanding market for in-home, boutique, hand-adorned, personalized articles. We hope you enjoy your time spent and always love to hear from anyone wanting to make contact.

ALL ABOUT ACRYLIC
Elevate your gifting experience with our personalized acrylic products, designed to add a unique touch to any occasion. At Acrylic Giftware, we understand the importance of customization, which is why we offer a variety of personalization methods to meet your needs.
Acrylic is a transparent thermoplastic polymer that includes properties that no other members of the “plastic family” contain. Acrylic is so tough, and yet transparent, it is used extensively in all manners of finished goods from picture frames, professional hockey rinks, bullet-resistant protection to canopies of jet fighters. Often, Acrylic is referred to by trade names such as Plexiglas® or Lucite® but these are only branded and registered names adopted by companies as their trademark name for Acrylic they produce. Some of the benefits of Acrylic include but are not limited to:
- Optical Clarity: The light transmission rate at 92% is actually higher than glass (90%). Acrylic provides crystal-clear views without distortion and maintains clarity for decades, even outdoors.
- Highly Impact Resistant: It is positively incorrect to be told that Acrylic will not scratch or break. What is factual is that Acrylic is between 10 to 20 times more shatter resistant than standard glass. The thicker Acrylic becomes the more shatter-resistant it becomes and bullet-resistant forms of Acrylic are available as well. When and if Acrylic does break, it fractures into large, dull-edged pieces rather than dangerous, razor sharp shards like glass.
- Weather Resistance: UV stability is a huge difference between Acrylic and other thermo plastics. As a result, Acrylic will not fade from the sun’s UV Rays nor from indoor incandescent or fluorescent lighting. With a 10 to 30 year outdoor lifespan depending on grade, you now see why we promote the safe outdoor use of our Acrylic products for the pool or patio.
- Lightweight: A 1/4″ thick 4′x8′ acrylic sheet, for example, weighs around 50 pounds versus 100 pounds for equivalent glass. Bringing those weights and measurements down a few notches, now you are able to see with half the weight of glass, better clarity than glass, more shatter-resistant and typically less expensive than glass, why Acrylic is the perfect alternative to glass.
- Workability: Unlike costly glass fabrication processes, Acrylic can be cut using common woodworking tools, heat-bent at 290-320°F, bonded with solvent cement through chemical welding, laser-cut, CNC routed, engraved, and polished to optical clarity. And, all that can be done in huge volumes daily.
- Chemical Resistance: Acrylic resists water, dilute acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and aliphatic hydrocarbons. It can be attacked (impaired) by aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones (acetone), alcohols, and strong acids. Windex-type cleaners work fine, but acetone will dissolve it.

ACRYLIC CARE
ACRYLIC IS RELATIVELY EASY TO MAINTAIN. To begin, there is absolutely no abrasive scrubbing, hard rubbing with rough cloths, steel wool pads or the like. These are certain, unwritten guarantees for permanent abrasions and will be next to impossible to remove. Harsh chemicals can attack (impair) Acrylic such as aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones (acetone), alcohols, and strong acids. Windex-type cleaners work fine, but acetone will dissolve it. Additionally, Acrylic, unless it states otherwise, should not be placed in the microwave or dishwasher. Both electronics will deform Acrylic.
ACRYLIC IS NOT A CUTTING BOARD ! Although Acrylic makes a great looking charcuterie board, using sharp utensils on it may mar or cut through the polished surface leaving “slice” marks that may not be able to be removed.
WHAT IF A SURFACE SCRATCH APPEARS ? Even with care, there is always an opportunity for a small smudge or topical light scratch to appear through normal use whether or not it was scratched with a metal object, rubbed against another object or even receives a slight cut from yet another source. AcrylicGiftware does offer a 3-piece cleaning set that may help with removal of light scratches and smudges although attempting to remove cuts is next to impossible as so much pressure is required to rub a deep cut out altogether, it also removes the surface area and uneven depressions on the surface can result.
- If you do find yourself with a smudge or light scratch and do not have any acrylic scratch remover solution, YOU MAY HAVE THE REMEDY AT HOME ALREADY, TOOTHPASTE. Yes, that’s correct, toothpaste. Squeeze a small dab of toothpaste over the area and with your finger or a Q-Tip, rub the scratch in a circular motion applying enough pressure to add just enough force so the grit in the toothpaste is gently grinding away on the acrylic surface. After 20-25 seconds or so, stop rubbing and rinse the area free of the paste with warm tap water and “pat” dry to remove any watermarks. Do not rub with a dishtowel, rather and if available, acrylic should only be rubbed with a silver polish cloth or similar, non-abrasive article. If the area needs a little more attention just be careful not to overdo it.
CLEANING ACRYLIC
Acrylic is so easy to maintain and without purchasing any special cleaning agents. Hand wash acrylic items in warm water using liquid soap. No chemicals are necessary as above-mentioned, That’s it! Rinse immediately and pat dry to remove any existing water marks. Any additional rubbing is best achieved using a jewelers Selvyt type cloth or jewelry polishing cloth but use ever so slightly and avoid extreme pressure.
